Press freedom is important, but how do we keep journalism responsible without too much control? In Freedom of Press and the Press Council: The Quest for an Ideal Regulatory Formula, Dr. Hafidz Hakimi bin Haron explains how different countries regulate the media. He looks at three types of media councils—those run by the media, the government, or both and suggests the best system for Malaysia to protect press freedom while keeping journalism fair and accountable.
