RACIAL DISCRIMINATION: A WARFARE CONCERNING EQUALITY AND HUMAN RIGHTS

Updated: Sep 30

Abstract

The human rights upheld by various measures serve as the foundation of life in the global community. The community is principally anchored to it as it stipulates the basic pillars of human life such as the right to life, freedom of speech, freedom of association and movement. The scope of human rights further includes equality. Equality is poised as the integral right to betterment in the community. The denial of equality consequently denies equal access to the needs for survival. Nevertheless, the community has been a witness to a large number of failures in protecting equality. There are various factors furnishing such failures which include racial discrimination. Racial discrimination happens at a frequent rate in every sphere of life as analysed in this paper. The community has shown zero tolerance towards racial discrimination as it is a constant threat to equality and human rights. The effect of such an issue towards equality and human rights is evidently scrutinised below. There are existing measures to prevent racial discrimination as highlighted in this paper. Although the measures have largely reduced racial encounters, it still do not completely eradicate the issue. Therefore recommendations are provided to succeed in the pursuit of putting a stop to racial discrimination.
